Great walking around the Butchers Arms

Set amidst the glorious countryside of the Woolhope Dome, designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty, there are many possible walks that can start and finish from the Butchers Arms or that include the pub as the perfect lunch stop.

A refreshing pint, one of our light bites menu and maybe a bowl of chips is a well deserved reward for a good walk. We don’t mind muddy boots, and four legged walkers are always welcome.

You can stick to the quiet country lanes or head across un-spoilt open country, but here are a few ideas to get you started.

- Head uphill and along Marcle Ridge to enjoy stunning views from Wales to the Cotswolds. On a clear day there are no finer views in the county.

- For a more gentle stroll, head past orchards and across farmland to enjoy the peaceful beauty of the historic churches of St George’s in Woolhope and St Michael’s, Sollers Hope.

- For a nature walk and to enjoy some bird watching, strike out for Broadmoor Common and Haugh Woods, returning by the Hereford Nature Trust reserve at Wessington Pasture.

Whatever you chose, just let us know beforehand if you wish to use the pub car park - in case of parties and events - and we will be ready  with refreshments on your return!
